ABOUT GRANNY
Penny Abner is Granny, and she grew up in West Central Ohio where she seemed to spend much of her time in the kitchen. Her parents both grew up on farms -- and you know that farming grandmothers are the best cooks and bakers on the planet. And that’s how Granny’s baking story began. And as talents get passed down from generation to generation, Granny’s mother learned from her mother, and of course passed that along to Granny herself.
“I’d guess that 80% of what I bake and create comes from recipes I’ve learned from my mom. And it’s safe to say that my mom got her recipes from her mom,”
Granny says. “It just runs in the family.” And sweet traditions like this always find a way to come full circle. “I’m a first-time grandmother recently. That’s how I’m officially Granny. And one of the best parts of being Granny is that the granddaughter loves to help me in the kitchen.”

Get Baked With Granny? What’s that you say? Is this a bakery for those who suffer from glaucoma? Not necessarily. Let’s hear the reasoning behind the name choice from Granny herself.
“First and foremost, taking the leap to launch this baking business took quite a bit. Aside from wanting to proudly carry on my family baking traditions, I wanted to have fun with this project. I’ve never been one to take things so seriously, and I wanted this baking endeavor to be the same.”
Granny’s stuff may not give you the munchies, but after you’ve tried it we are sure you’ll be asking for more!

HOW IT STARTED
As you can guess from Granny’s story, Get Baked With Granny was born out of a love of baking along with a need to roll with the punches of life.
“I spent 20 years in the medical field as a PT assistant, when one day they closed the office. That wasn’t quite in my plan.”
Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
“My husband and I talked about my love of baking. We were traveling home from a trip when we stopped at one of our favorite spots for pie. I mentioned how mom had always wanted to open a pie and donut shop. My husband and I talked it over while eating that pie, and we said, ‘We should open a pie shop.’”
